The President of Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES), Mr Chris Preston together with Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bill Pryke, led the Council Members of ICES Hong Kong Region, including Mr Daniel SUM (Chairman), Mr Henry TSOI (Vice Chairman (Membership)) and Mr Alan CHEUNG (Advisor), to visit HKICM during his presidential visit to Hong Kong on 25 April 2019. The delegates were warmly greeted by President Cr Daniel SHUM, Vice Presidents Cr Tony ZA and Cr Dr Billy LEE accompanied by Secretary General Mr Rocky CHOW.
The meeting firstly started with Mr Preston briefly explains ICES establishment history, recent developments and its membership both worldwide and in Hong Kong, as well as reciprocal agreements with other peer professional organizations. In return, the delegates were briefed and updated on the works, accomplishment, latest activities and development of HKICM, including establishment of the designations “Cr”, “R.C.M.” and “R.C.S.”.
A number of issues on common interests were then discussed and views exchanged, including recent update of ICES in respect of CEng and Engineering Council, discussion on the possible collaboration of the two institutes in organizing joint CPD and training events, social functions and young members group activities as well as the potential mutual recognition on professional membership.
The meeting was very fruitful and HKICM is pleased to establish a closer working relationship with Chartered ICES and certainly looks forward to future opportunities in collaboration and mutual recognition of professional membership.
The visit ended with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photo taken at the conference room of the HKICM Secretariat Office in Central, Hong Kong.
